The Mechanical Engineering Department was established in 2010. Mechanical Engineering is one of the major streams in the engineering profession and its principles are involved in the design, development, production, and construction of nearly all of the physical devices and systems.
Mechanical Engineers use the basic principles of motion, energy, and force to design almost all products. Today’s mechanical Engineers may work on developing robotic systems for manufacturing, develop a prototype of an electric car; build and test turbojets; design and produce advanced materials for supersonic travel or cryogenic field.
The Mechanical Engineering Department of Vanetra Muthayammal Polytechnic Institution aims to high-caliber mechanical engineers for a demanding profession.
The polytechnic curriculum emphasizes the basic principles of the discipline and educates a student in the use of these principles to solve simple to complex engineering problems. Throughout the curriculum, students learn how to design and conduct experiments. Various activities are organized to develop soft skills of the students such as Library, Paper Presentation, Industrial Visits, and HR Motivation, etc.
Diploma in Mechanical Engineering is a Two (or) Three years Duration program. The academic program is divided into Four (or) Six semesters, with each semester Consists of six months. Diploma in Mechanical Engineering course trains students in areas such as- Machine Design, Manufacturing Technology, Material Science, Thermodynamics, Engineering Drawing, Engineering Physics, Industrial Management, etc.
Students who have passed 10th standard are eligible to pursue this course. This course can also be pursued after HSC with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics is mandatory for admission to a course in Mechanical Engineering.
The Mechanical Department Library holds various collection of Text Books and Reference Books to meet the needs of students. This Library contains the Books with different titles like Design Engineering, Manufacturing and thermal Engineering and also core related Mechanical Engineering.
